Our
nursery

Welcome to our curriculum: a carefully crafted journey that places your child at the heart of learning. Rooted in the belief that every child is a capable, curious, and active participant in their own development, our curriculum embraces the seven areas of learning as essential foundations for building confident, resilient, and thriving individuals.

These seven interconnected areas: ‘Communication and Language’, ‘Physical Development’, ‘Personal, Social and Emotional Development’, ‘Literacy’, ‘Mathematics’, ‘Understanding the World’, and ‘Expressive Arts and Design’ are not taught in isolation, but are thoughtfully interwoven to support the holistic development of every child. This means nurturing the whole child: their mind, body, emotions, creativity, and relationships.

At the core of our approach is the belief that children are natural-born explorers. They learn best when they are engaged through all five senses, encouraged to question, discover, and express themselves freely. Through rich, immersive environments (both indoors and out) we provide meaningful opportunities for sensory play, inquiry-based learning, and open-ended exploration. These spaces are carefully designed to stimulate curiosity, ignite imagination, and foster deep engagement.

High-quality interactions between adults and children are a vital thread that runs through our curriculum. Our educators act as co-learners and guides – listening, extending thinking, and nurturing language through warm, respectful interactions and communications. These connections
help to build trust and emotional security, allowing children to flourish socially and intellectually.

By developing key skills such as critical thinking, problem-solving, collaboration, and communication, our curriculum supports children to become lifelong learners. Those that are motivated not by outcomes, but by a genuine love of learning. We champion a growth mindset and
celebrate each child’s unique learning journey, fostering confidence, independence, and joy in discovery.

This curriculum is more than a framework; it is our promise – to provide every child with the freedom, support, and inspiration to reach their full potential and thrive in an ever-changing world.

OUR PEDAGOGY IS BUILT ON FOUR BRANCHES OF DEVELOPMENT:

Our beautifully maintained grounds feature four thoughtfully designed gardens, each created to support and nurture every aspect of children’s development. Outdoor learning is central to our EYFS approach, supporting all areas of development. Being outdoors encourages curiosity, problem-solving, and active learning, while promoting emotional well-being and social skills. Physical skills are strengthened through climbing, running, and exploring. Literacy and maths are brought to life with themed books, counting, and measuring natural objects. Activities like nature walks and gardening help children understand the world around them in a hands-on, meaningful way.

Our nursery is thoughtfully divided into five age-appropriate areas, creating a truly child-centred environment. It features a sensory room, indoor play lofts, a dedicated sleep room, and large, airy open-plan spaces. Each room is carefully designed with high-quality furniture and fittings, complemented by a wide range of open-ended resources and technology. Every space includes a cosy corner, a role play area, and dedicated zones where rich learning opportunities are set up to support all areas of development. These elements provide children with the chance to experiment, develop critical thinking skills, build independence, and fully engage in their play and learning.

In order to thrive, children need to be able to eat, sleep and exercise well with the support and guidance of caring adults. During their day at Solihull Day Care, children will sit down together for freshly prepared meals and snacks, relax in a quiet, comfortable environment to rest/sleep and will learn new ways to challenge their physical development through a varied programme of movement and exercise to build strength and stability.

The safety and security of the children in our care is always the number one priority and is a rigorously enforced via state-of-the-art security systems, risk assessments, regular health and safety audits as well as strict adherence to our nursery policies. Below is a link to the Solihull Day Care Safeguarding policy.

We believe that it is important for a child to be given opportunities to test their limits and take some risks as part of their physical and emotional development. So we provide these opportunities but ensure that they are carefully monitored and supervised.
